  • ICAR Officials Strengthen Mithun Conservation Efforts Through Bull Distribution in Nagaland

    To boost Mithun conservation initiatives, a delegation comprising DDG (Animal Sciences) Dr. Raghavendra Bhatta, ADG (Animal Production & Breeding) Dr. G.K. Gaur, and Director ICAR - NRC on Mithun Dr. Girish Patil embarked on a two-day visit to Mithun Conservation units in Nagaland. Their itinerary included stops at Khonoma, Kohima on 03-05-2024, and Thevopisumi, Phek on 04-05-2024. The focal point of their visit was the distribution of Mithun breeding bulls as part of the community-based Open Nucleus Breeding Scheme (ONBS). This scheme aims to enhance the genetic stock of Mithuns, a valuable asset for the communities involved.

    Coromandel International Limited, India’s leading agri solutions company, has announced increasing its investment in Ecozen, a pioneering climate-smart technology solutions provider. The Rs 24 crores investment was made through its wholly-owned subsidiary and corporate venture capital arm Dare Ventures Limited. With this, Coromandel has increased its shareholding in Ecozen to 5.54%, an increase of 3.13%.

  • Clean Technology Manufacturing Skyrockets to $200 Billion: IEA Report Reveals Solar PV and Battery Investments Lead the Charge

    Investment in the manufacturing of clean technology surged to approximately $200 billion in 2023, marking a substantial 70 percent increase from the previous year, as per a report by the International Energy Agency (IEA). Solar PV and battery manufacturing plants led the way in these investments.

  • 70% Farmers Experienced Increased Food Production through Regenerative Agriculture- PRADAN’s Survey Report

    PRADAN, a social impact organisation which has undertaken a survey around regenerative agriculture. The survey was undertaken in Jharkhand with a sample size of almost 2800 households adopting regenerative agriculture. In their regenerative journey, these farmers are expected to adopt many other practices like minimal tillage, crop rotation, multi-cropping, moisture management, pest and disease management. Based on PRADAN’s survey in Jharkhand (in 2023), based on a sample of 2800 households with 2400 households practising regenerative agriculture and 400 households practicing conventional agriculture, it was found that, more than 80% of respondents who practised regenerative agriculture, reported better water holding of soil, darker soil colour (indicating improvement in organic matter content more organic material), finer soil texture and more organisms which improve soil quality.

Named Glyptothorax punyabratai, this newfound species adds to the rich biodiversity of the region and highlights the importance of continued exploration and conservation efforts.
