  • Mangoes Arrive Early in Market, See Rapid Sales

    Across the city, the arrival of mangoes at fruit shops indicates that the season has started, but retailers and horticulturists say that it is too early to call it. They stated that mid-April is when better quality fruits will be available in the market. As per the former horticulturist, Santhe Narayanaswamy, at the moment the varieties that are on sale are the products of forced ripening. “They are generally not as sweet as compared to the naturally ripened mangoes,” shares Narayanaswamy, who owns an eight-acre mango farm located in Devanahalli taluk in Vijayapur. However, shops are doing rapid business. Sowbhagya Traders, a store in Koramangala, receives 175 kilograms of seasonal fruit daily. Of this, 125 kgs are sold per day. “Raspuri, Mallika, Chakarakutti, Sendhura, and Badami are available right now.

     

  • Farmers Practicing Natural Farming in Himachal to Be Certified Under PK3Y in FY24

    In 2023-24, Under Prakritik Kheti Khushhal Kisan Yojana (PK3Y) about 1.5 lakh farmers practicing natural farming in Himachal Pradesh would be certified. As per the study, 28 per cent farmers have adopted natural farming techniques on their own through peer-to-peer learning without any training and therefore the target of PK3Y in this financial year will be consolidation of farmers practicing natural farming, said Rakesh Kanwar, Agriculture Secretary. While addressing a meeting of the agriculture department officers to discuss the cluster-based agriculture development programme in the state, he said the initiative would be taken to certify about 1.5 lakh farmers practicing natural farming in 2023-24.

     

  • Rajasthan CM Urges PM Modi to Relax Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana Restrictions to Aid Distressed Farmers

    In order to provide distressed farmers with prompt relief after crop loss, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting that the restrictions of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, which was launched in October 2022, be loosened. According to a release, the chief minister has also urged that the law allowing farmers to get compensation for crop loss on only two hectares of land in times of natural calamity be changed and increased. The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) is a crop insurance scheme sponsored by the government of India. The scheme was launched in 2016 by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare in New Delhi, and it aims to integrate multiple stakeholders onto a single platform.

  • PM Kisan 14th Installment Big Update! Only These Farmers will Get Rs 2000

    PM Kisan latest update: Here's an important information for all the beneficiaries of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. As per media reports, the government may release the 14th installment to eligible farmers very soon. However, only farmers who meet the criteria and requirements will receive the money this time. It is worth mentioning that PM Kisan Yojana installments are disbursed directly into farmers' bank accounts through DBT after every four months. The 13th installment of PM Kisan  was released on February 27, 2023. As a result, the 14th installment could be issued between May and June. However government has not made any official announcement. But before this, farmers must finish their verification process so that the money can be deposited into their accounts on time.
