  • Samunnati Enters into a Co-Lending Partnership with SBI

    Samunnati, India’s Open Agri Network has entered into the largest Co-Lending partnership in India aimed at the Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) space with SBI, India’s largest bank. The initial program amount is INR 100 Crores. SBI and Samunnati have also entered into a non-financial MOU to develop the FPO Sector, to mainstream FPO as an asset class and increase awareness of this class of farmer-owned institutions in the Banking sector. Founder & CEO of Samunnati, Anil Kumar SG said, “We are delighted to partner with SBI, the largest and most trustworthy brand in Indian Banking. SBI’s pan-India presence and deep interest in Financial Inclusion of the small-holder farmers are enablers for helping an FPO avail an array of financial services.

  • Yara launches Leadership Academy in India

    Yara India launched the Yara Leadership Academy in Uttar Pradesh, India. The 12-week, MBA-inspired module will build future-fit competencies, and leadership capacities of 500 micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) business owners - prioritizing youth- and women-led businesses - within Yara India's communities.   Yara's Leadership Academy is being held in partnership with Kuza Technologies, an Indian social enterprise, and United States International University's Global Agribusiness Management and Entrepreneurship Center. Subhashini Chandran, Vice President - Social Impact, Africa and Asia at Yara stated, ". As the backbone of most economies, small businesses contribute to local development and job creation.   • Sumitomo Chemical Launches 3 new products in India

    Sumitomo Chemical India Ltd, a subsidiary of Sumitomo Chemical Corporation, Japan, a leading global crop protection company, has launched 3 unique 9 (3) registered products - Sumi Blue Diamond, Pyclome, and Danitol NXT during the annual director club distributor meet at Kolkata. Dr Suresh Ramachandran, Chief Commercial Officer at SCIL, said - New Launches in Insecticide and Biorational portfolio will give respite to farmers on emerging pest problems in the sown area of paddy cotton and brinjal.   • Odisha tops State ranking for implementation of National Food Security Act

    Union Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Piyush Goyal released the ‘State Ranking Index for NFSA’ 2022 during a conference of State Food Ministers on ‘Food and Nutrition Security of India’. Among the 20 major states and Union Territories (UTs), Odisha bested the rundown while Goa came last. Tripura positioned first and Ladakh came last among the 14 more modest states and UTs. The states and UTs were positioned in light of three boundaries for the year 2022. 

  • Agritech firm Gramophone to double store network by Sept

    Agritech platform Gramophone said it plans to expand its offline retail network to 10,000 stores countrywide by the end of September this year. The company, which launched offline retail this year, has 5,000 stores in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, western Uttar Pradesh, and eastern Maharashtra. Tauseef Khan, co-founder and CEO of Gramophone, said in a statement. “We have taken an omni-channel approach to cross to the next orbit of growth. Our partner stores act as Gramophone’s offline touchpoints and GramKonnect, our retailer app, as the online touchpoint.
