  • Punjab Govt Forms Committee to Address Concerns Raised by Punjab Cotton Growers and Ginner’s Association

    India is a major producer as well as exporter of cotton yarn. The Indian textile industry contributes about 5% of the country's GDP (GDP). Cotton textiles are the country's second largest employer after agriculture, supporting the livelihoods of an estimated 6.5 million cotton farmers and driving a large export market. Harpal Singh Cheema, state finance minister, reiterated this during a meeting with representatives of the Punjab Cotton Factories and Ginner's Association, saying that the Punjab Government aims to take an all-encompassing approach to bolstering the industrial sector because it plays an important role in the State's economy.

     

  • Tamil Nadu Govt Forms Committee for Publicity & Promotion of Agri Scheme

    According to an order issued by agriculture secretary C Samayamoorthy, the committee, headed by a deputy director of agriculture (information and training), has representatives from wings such as agricultural marketing and agribusiness, horticulture and plantation crops, agricultural engineering, Tamil Nadu Watershed Development Agency, commissionerate of sugar, Tamil Nadu Agriculture University, and director of the seed certification. The committee has been tasked with creating a series of short video clips in Tamil about important crops, technologies, scheme components, and other forecast news.

     

  • Dr. Jitendra Singh to Inaugurate Genome Editing Center & iFANS 2023 Conference in Mohali

    Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Earth Sciences, and Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space, will officially open the National Genome Editing and Training Center (NGETC) and the International Conference on Food and Nutritional Security-2023 (iFANS-2023) at NABI, in Mohali on Friday. The NGETC is a cutting-edge laboratory under one roof that will act as a national platform to meet regional demands for adapting various genome editing techniques, including CRISPR-Cas mediated genome alteration.
