  • Nitin Gadkari Urges Scientists to Prioritize Agriculture-Oriented Research

    Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, has asked scientists to do rural and agricultural research using a need-based, region-based, as well as technology, research, and entrepreneurial futuristic vision to help the country and society develop. Gadkari was the Principal Guest at a conference on Women In Science And Entrepreneurship- WISE-2023, hosted by the Indian Women Scientist Association's Nagpur Branch at the National Environment Engineering Research Institute's (NEERI) auditorium in Nagpur. Several luminaries attended the event, including NEERI Director Dr. Atul Vaidya and Retired Dean of Nagpur Medical College Dr. Vibhavari Dani.

  • EU Carbon Rules may Harm ASEAN Exporters Now, But Benefit them in Future, says ADB

    ASEAN countries, particularly Malaysia and Indonesia, are gearing up for the European Union's (EU) Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), which will require manufacturers to demonstrate their products' environmental credentials. The policy, set to take effect gradually from 2026, is aimed at preventing “carbon leakage” and ensuring a level playing field for EU products. Non-compliant goods will be subject to a special tax, with cement, electricity, fertilizers, iron, steel, and aluminum products initially targeted.

     

  • Proposal To Bring More Area Under Cotton Production in Bathinda

    The Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare is promoting the cultivation of cotton under crop diversification due to the diminishing groundwater levels. The farmers are being given a 33 percent subsidy on soft seeds for the early sowing of the cotton crop. In view of the diminishing groundwater levels, efforts are being made by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare the promotion of the cultivation of cotton under crop diversification.

     

  • University to Host ‘Nili Ravi Milking Competition’: Celebrating Dairy Farming Excellence

    Every farmer who participates in the milking competition with Nili Ravi buffaloes yielding more than 15 kgs. will get Rs. 2100 as token money apart from free fodder, water and essential health services. Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana is going to organize the ‘Nili Ravi Milking competition’ from 4th to 6th April 2023. Farmers whose milk yield of buffalo is more than 15 kgs/day can participate in this milking competition. The main objective of the milking competition is to identify high milk-yielding Nili Ravi Buffaloes and to encourage and recognize such buffalo farmers.
