IFFCO secures 20-year patent for nano urea and nano DAP
Fertiliser cooperative major IFFCO Ltd said it has bagged a patent for its two new products -- nano urea and nano DAP -- developed using nano-technology. Urea and Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) are largely consumed fertilisers in the country. IFFCO has received the patent for their nano variants from the Indian government for a period of 20 years. '' IFFCO Managing Director US Awasthi said ''This intellectual property of IFFCO Nano Urea and Nano DAP will strengthen Indian economy by reducing input cost to agriculture...,. Iffco's nano urea and nano DAP next-generation fertilisers are benefiting farmers and the environment. These products will be instrumental in reducing soil, air and water pollution.

Alswamitra Botanicals LLP strengthens tribal people with organic farming
Alswamitra Botanicals LLP, based in Bengaluru, has launched an initiative in tribal hamlets in South India to standardize the yield and quality of organic crops such as turmeric and millets by distributing seeds from an NGO and then buying them back to distribute to other farmers. According to Neil Thomas, Director of Alswamitra said, the seeds are distributed following the signing of a proper contract with them. The contract is based on a template recommended by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

ONDC launches hackathon to aid ecommerce adoption in agriculture sector
Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), a Government of India initiative that aims to build an open network for buyers and sellers to democratise the current e-commerce ecosystem in the country, has launched a three-day “Grand Hackathon” starting from July 1, 2022 The event is organised in collaboration with NABARD and is divided into two categories: Agri Grant Challenge and Agri Innovation Hackathon. It will showcase the innovations to aid the adoption of e-commerce in the agricultural sector. The event is expected to see 600 participants that will work on the hackathon challenges, technical requirements, and solve them for large-scale future application.

India’s First-Ever Agri Land Price Index launched by IIMA
Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA), a premier global management institute,7 in collaboration with India’s first agri-land marketplace SFarmsIndia has announced the launch of IIMA- SFarmsIndia Agri Land Price Index (ISALPI), a first-of-its-kind land price index that will record and present ‘quality controlled’ data of prices of agricultural land across the country. This index is particularly important in terms of benchmarking land prices in rural and semi-urban areas. In such a case, the index will serve as a reliable source that will signal the potential conversion of agricultural land into real estate. Speaking of the relevance of the index in the current scenario, Professor Errol D’Souza, Director of IIMA said: “With just over 200 million hectares, India houses just 2% of the world’s cropped land; but feeds over 15% of the world’s population.

Spices quality evaluation lab, training centre to come up at Guwahati
Assam government and Spices Board will establish a quality evaluation laboratory and training centre for spices at Guwahati for developing the spice industry further in the region, State Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said Emphasising the importance of Assam in spice production, and State can leverage its potential for becoming a major hub for post-harvest processing and value addition of spices from the North-Eastern region and one of the major exporting hubs.
