  • Cabinet Approves Sale of Chana To States & Union Territories At Discounted Rate

    According to a government statement, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs of India approved the sale of Chana to states and union territories at a subsidized price for welfare schemes today. Under this scheme, states will be able to lift 15 lakh tonnes of chana procured under the Price Support Scheme & Price Stabilization Fund, at a discount of Rs 8 /kg over the issue price of the sourcing state on a first-come-first-serve basis. The Centre will spend Rs 1,200 crore for the implementation of this scheme.

  • Meghalaya CM Launches ‘Rural Backyard Piggery Scheme’ For Farmers

    Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma launched an ambitious flagship programme for the farmers – “Rural Backyard Piggery Scheme” under National Livestock Mission at Byrnihat in Ri-Bhoi district. After launching the programme, the minister said that the state’s “Progress” scheme aims to ensure that the farmers earn a sustainable livelihood through different livestock farming activities.

  • Govt Asks Nafed to Buy Imported Urad Through Auction

    Amid a possibility of lower output of urad in the current Kharif season, the Centre is reported to have directed cooperative major National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (Nafed) to buy 25,000-35,000 tonnes of imported urad through auction instead of floating a global tender. Nafed has also invited bids from traders to participate in the auction. And the Bids have to be made for a minimum of 500 tonnes and the government will buy maximum of 2,000 tonnes a day.
  • UP Cabinet Approves Installation Of 2,100 Tube Wells In 62 Districts

    Uttar Pradesh Cabinet approved a plan to build 2,100 tube wells in 62 districts and also decided to give farmers free 'toria' which is a (variety of mustard) seeds. According to the state agriculture minister Surya Pratap Shahi, the Cabinet meeting presided over by chief minister Yogi Adityanath decided to install new tube wells in 62 districts to provide farmers with access to agricultural facilities.
