  • Malaysian Palm Oil Prices Going up in Global Markets

    Malaysian palm oil futures rose for a third straight session and ended Friday’s session on a positive note. Gains in soy oil bucked the upward trend. Soy oil is climbing higher over the past few days on concerns due to tight soybean harvest and perception of value buying since prices have turned reasonably cheaper when compared with prices prevailing one month back.

  • Himachal Pradesh Government Grants 6% GST Subsidy on Apple Boxes and Trays

    The Himachal government has announced that all orchardists in the state who purchased apple boxes and trays after April 1 this year will be liable for a 6% GST subsidy through the horticulture department and HPMC. The decision comes days before an expected protest march of apple producers in Shimla on August 5.

  • Tamil Nadu Farmers Urge Agriculture Engineering Dept to Buy, Rent out Drones at Nominal Prices

    Farmers from the Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu requested the agriculture engineering department to buy and rent drones for nano urea spraying at reasonable rates. The solid urea, which is allegedly in severe shortage throughout the coastal delta regions, has been replaced by nano urea (liquid) fertilizer, which is being promoted by the agricultural department, ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, IFFCO, and other institutions.

  • Farmers Throw Tomatoes in Trash after Price Dropped to Rs. 3 per kg

    The sudden drop in the price of vegetables has put tomato farmers in a dilemma. Farmers were forced to throw their tomatoes in the trash after prices at the farms dropped to 3 per kg. Andhra Pradesh’s tomato farmers saw record yield due to persistent rainfall and favorable circumstances, which caused rates to suddenly drop. In May, tomatoes cost Rs 30 per kg, but they are currently only Rs 12 per kg in local markets. Farmers are therefore only being given Rs 3 per kg.

    It's an inportant day for the agriculture industry as Dr Himanshu Pathak, who’s been appointed as the new Director General, ICAR (pls use full form) and Secretary of Department of Agricultural Research and Education met Krishi Jagran Editor in Chief MC Dominic and Director Shiny Dominic in his new office at Krishi Bhawan in New Delhi. In his meeting, he shared that everything will move ahead as they were. When asked about the priorities on his plate, he clearly mentioned he’ll share his plans as and when the time comes. While talking to Mr. Dominic and Krishi Jagran’s team he mentioned about 700 KVKs across the nation that could play a big role in times to come. The senior scientist and the winner of some of the most prestigious awards despite his back-to-back appointments was kind enough to share his precious moments with the Krishi Jagran team and open his heart about the sector he’s big plans for.   • NCDEX MD And COO Met Niti Aayog Member
