Dr. Devendra Kumar Yadava has been appointed as the Deputy Director General (Crop Science) at the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), marking a significant milestone in his distinguished career. Dr. Yadava has had an illustrious academic journey, beginning from his early education in Haryana to earning his Ph.D. in Agriculture from Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, in 1993.
With a career spanning decade, Dr. Yadava has played a crucial role in agricultural research and development. Since 2017, he has served as the Assistant Director General (Seed) in ICAR’s Crop Science Division, overseeing advancements in seed technology and crop improvement.
His extensive experience includes his tenure as an Assistant Professor specializing in pulses and brassica breeding at Rajasthan Agricultural University and his leadership as the Head of the Division of Seed Science and Technology at ICAR-IARI, New Delhi.
Dr. Yadava’s contributions to agricultural science have been widely recognized, earning him prestigious awards such as the ICAR Dr. Rajendra Prasad Award for the best technical book in Hindi, the ICAR Rafi Ahmad Kidwai Award, and the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences Recognition Award.
His expertise in genetic enhancement of oilseeds and pulses using molecular and conventional breeding approaches has greatly benefited Indian agriculture, particularly in rapeseed mustard research.
